How to Style the Asymmetrical Lace Skirt
In 2023, the sheer lace skirt, sometimes asymmetrical, became a trend amongst social media influencers.
It is only in 2024 that the British high street has lace skirts available. There are now many lace skirts available at River Island, for instance.
This piece is a challenge, as this kind of skirt calls for oversized pieces (unless you are happy with bodycon), whereas I tend to wear fitted tops and jackets. Here are two ways to style the Bershka Lace Midi Skirt - I bought it from ASOS but it is still available on Bershka.
1) Oversized T-shirt + Beaded Waist Chain
For summer, I definitely wanted an oversized T-shirt in a closely matching colour, so as to lengthen my silhouette, being on the border of petite at 5ft 3 and regular. This Shakira T-shirt from H&M was perfect! Conundrum was: an oversized top would overwhelm a petite frame like mine, so I gave it a waist by trying a beaded waist chain, which cinched my figure without drawing attention to the waist, which would make one look shorter!

2) Oversized Bomber Jacket + Chunky Sandals
I saw an influencer on Instagram matching her lace skirt with a cap, oversized bomber jacket and Birkenstocks and I fell in love with that look! At first, I tried a River Island raincoat in a darker shade, but the flared hemline drew attention away from the lace skirt in an unflattering way, making me look short! This curved oversized bomber shape (also from River Island and also at a discount), is best for continuing the shapely silhouette of the lace skirt, while giving it modesty. The lace top can either be a matching colour to the skirt, or if you find it too ‘wedding-like’, match the top to the colour of the bomber jacket and Birkenstock dupes (the ‘sandwich’ method of coordinating).
