Models in glamorous knee-high boots showing off trending mini skirts or jumper dresses often belie the truth - that for some of us regular women, these boots can barely be pulled up over our thick calves. Not to say I am ashamed of my calves, mind you, they were honed from hours of netball and cycling and I am proud of them.

But if only knee-high boots were more accommodating! And now I have found the answer: New Look. Two years ago I bought their Extra Calf Fit Brown Knee High Boots, and they were…not bad. These black boots are much improved. The quality of the fabric is smoother, the look sleeker, the zip-up feature is classier! Hip hip hurray, I say, these black knee-high boots are now my go-to for every skirted outfit this winter and beyond!
