What Colours Go with Grey?
1) Butter Yellow
Hands up those who have actually worn butter yellow this A/W 2023 season?
Not me yet, I want to, but it is traditional to wear deep, winter colours, and A/W 2023 has followed suit with deep grey, dark cherry and midnight blue.
Butter yellow is the perfect contrast to these winter colours, as it does not compete, shout or look out of season…too much. If you are feeling cranky, and want a mood lift, try butter yellow. Or if you want to dip your toe into the feminine trends but don’t want to wear ruffles or a bow, try butter yellow. The softness and mutedness of this yellow will melt any heart.
Tip: If you are not a fan of yellow, and can wear grey by your face, try butter yellow in your accessories. Or you can use a hot pink scarf over the butter yellow top to give it oomph.
2) Soft Pink
Playing with textures is another way to warm up grey. Here, I used a soft pink knitted top, bought from Topshop years ago, to offset this H&M Lace-Trimmed Satin Skirt in Grey.
Is it possible to wear hot pink with grey? Most certainly. But I would like to show you how a softer pink can ease you into the grey trend, if you are unsure what you can match with grey, without running out to get a trendy colour.
Tip: Whichever pink you wear with grey, try a different textured fabric, and go with the flow of your mood!

3) Coral and Marine Colours
Marine colours over the autumn/winter season? Who would have thought…? But the fashion industry is smart, and colours are suggested to go with the previous season. The excitement of coral, the awesomeness of aqua, even the gentleness of seafoam green can heighten the effect of grey, as grey does not compete nor drag the effect of mermaidcore down. I highly recommend trying this pairing!
Tip: Choose the marine colour that excites you most. Pair with grey, it’s as simple as that!
4) Bright Red
The trendiest way to style with grey is to use bright red. If you feel it is too summery, go with deep cherry red, the other trending A/W 2023 colour.
Tips: Match the red you choose with the lipstick you wear, and you have put your festive face on!
